Want
to have better denture retention....or better still be
DENTURE FREE?
THEN
GET PERMANENT DENTURE IMPLANTS!
What are implants?
- Implants are
small attachments that are inserted through the gum and into the jaw. They
can be used to stabilise dentures or to support a crown or
bridgework.
What are the
advantages of implants? And can I use my existing dentures?
- Some patients
with severe gum shrinkage will find it difficult to retain a denture,
this can lead to a loss of confidence and a lack of social dignity.
Implants placed in either the upper or lower jaws can improve the situation.
This is a simple procedure and can be carried out in just a couple of hours
either adapting your existing denture, or with your new denture.
Will I really
be Denture free?
- Many patients
would like to be 'denture free'. This can be achieved with multiple
implants in either jaw, for example 10 implants in the upper jaw would retain
a fixed bridge made up of 14 teeth. Once fixed this would be a permanent
replacement.
How long will
it take?
- Usually the
implants are fitted in one sitting and the bridgework fitted about a week
later (a temporary bridge is fitted during this week). Therefore, the process
of fitting your implants and bridge will take 1 week.
